Overview

This help explains the search form fields available in WPRentals and which Compare rule should be used for each field.

The Advanced Search Form controls the search fields used by the theme hero search types and by the Advanced Search Shortcode. Some other search forms, such as the Half Map Search Form and Elementor Search Form Builder, have separate settings.

Where to Find the Advanced Search Form Settings

Go to:

WPRentals Options > Search > Advanced Search Form

Important: Search Type 1 and Search Type 2 use predefined fields. Search Type 3, Type 4, and Type 5 allow custom field configuration from WPRentals Options > Search > Advanced Search Form.

Default Search Types

WPRentals includes five hero media search types. These forms show over the theme hero media header.

  • Search Type 1 – vertical layout with predefined fields.
  • Search Type 2 – horizontal layout with predefined fields.
  • Search Type 3 – horizontal layout with custom fields.
  • Search Type 4 – horizontal layout with 3 default fields plus custom fields. The default fields are title keyword, first category, and second category.
  • Search Type 5 – vertical layout with custom fields.

Search Type 3, Type 4, and Type 5 can use the custom search fields listed in the table below.

How to Configure Custom Search Fields

For Search Type 3, Type 4, and Type 5, you can configure:

  • Number of Search Fields – enter the number of search fields you want to display, save the settings, then refresh the page.
  • Fields Per Row – choose how many fields show on one row. The available options are 2, 3, or 4 fields per row.
  • Custom Fields – select the fields that should appear in the search form.
  • How it will compare – choose the correct compare rule for each field.
  • Label on Front end – add the label shown to visitors. For taxonomy dropdowns, labels sync with the names added in the Listing Submit Settings.
  • Custom Icons – assign FontAwesome icons to search fields, if needed.

Important: Do not duplicate fields, and make sure the selected fields do not contradict each other. For example, avoid using multiple fields that search the same value in different ways unless that is the intended behavior.

To show guests, beds, bathrooms, or rooms as dropdowns, enable:

Show Dropdowns for Guests, beds, bathrooms or rooms?

Beds and Baths Component

The Beds and Baths Component combines beds and bathrooms into one field.

Use Equal for this component. The results will show listings with the selected number of beds or baths, or more.

The Price Field is used to search by price.

Use Greater as the Compare rule for the dedicated price field.

The price field can be displayed in two versions:

  • Price Slider – visitors select a price range with a slider.
  • Price V2 Component with input and slider selectors – visitors can type a price or use the slider.

The minimum and maximum price values are configured from:

WPRentals Options > Search > Advanced Search Settings
