Half Map Search Form overview
The Half Map Search Form controls the filter section used on Half Map pages. It allows visitors to search and filter properties without reloading the page.
The options for this search form are managed from Theme Options → Search → Half Map Search Form.
Where this search form appears
This search form appears in the Half Map layouts used for:
- Advanced Search Results Half Map layout
- Taxonomy and Property Category Half Map layout
- Properties List Half Map layout
Half Map Search Form options
In Theme Options → Search → Half Map Search Form, you can configure:
- Number of Search Fields – Enter the number of fields, save the settings, and refresh the page to see the field rows.
- Fields Per Row – Choose how many fields show on each row. Available options are 2, 3, or 4.
- Custom Fields – Select fields from the theme default fields and listing custom fields.
- Custom Icons – Assign FontAwesome icons to search fields.
Custom fields you can add
Location field
The location field can be used in different search combinations, depending on how you want visitors to search by location.
- You can configure location search using Google Places, OpenStreet Places, or the theme autocomplete system.
- For this field, use Like as the compare term.

Check-in and check-out fields
Use the date fields to allow visitors to search listings by availability dates.
- Use Date Greater for the check-in field.
- Use Date Smaller for the check-out field.
- Add a label so the field displays correctly on the front end.
Guest number field
The guest number field displays results based on the guest capacity selected by the visitor.
- To show properties that allow the selected number of guests or more, use the Greater compare term.
- You can use the simple guest dropdown or the advanced guest separator.

Property taxonomies and categories
Property taxonomies are managed from WP Admin → Listings, Bookings & More.
The main taxonomy fields are:
- Property Category
- Property Type
- Property City
- Property Area

City and area fields
Listing City and Property Area can be used as separate and independent dropdowns.
- You can configure the names for these dropdowns in Theme Options.
- Use Like as the compare term.
- Add the Label that should display on the advanced search field on the front end.

Main category and second category fields
Listing Main Category and Second Category can be used as dropdowns in the Half Map search form.
- You can configure the names for these dropdowns in Theme Options.
- Use Like as the compare term.
- Add the Label that should display on the advanced search field on the front end.
To allow visitors to select more than one category, enable Multi-Select from Theme Options → Search → Categories Multi Selection.
County, state, and country fields
Listing County and State
- These are text input fields.
- Use Like as the compare term.
- Add a label for front-end display.
Listing Country
- This is a dropdown field with a pre-coded country list.
- Use Like as the compare term.
- Add a label for front-end display.
Bedrooms, bathrooms, and rooms fields
Baths, bedrooms, and rooms can be added as separate fields.
- They can be used as input fields or dropdowns.
- Use Smaller, Equal, or Greater compare terms, depending on the search behavior you want.
To enable dropdowns, activate Show Dropdowns for Guests, Beds, Bathrooms, or Rooms in Theme Options and configure the number of beds and bathrooms to display.
Beds and Baths component
The Beds and Baths component combines both beds and bathrooms into a single field.
- Use Equal as the comparison.
- The results will show properties with the selected number of beds or baths, or more.
To configure the number of beds and bathrooms to display, go to Theme Options → Search → Advanced Search Settings.
Price field
The Price Field can be used in two variations.
Version 1: Price Slider
This version displays a slider that allows users to select a price range. The minimum and maximum values for the Price Slider are set in Theme Options → Search → Advanced Search Settings.
The values for the price slider and Price V2 are added in Theme Options → Search → Advanced Search Settings.
Version 2: Price component with input and slider selectors
This version displays both an input field and a slider. Users can type a price directly into the input field or use the slider to adjust the price range.
Features and amenities
To add features and amenities to the Half Map search form:
- Set Show Amenities and Features fields? to Yes.
- Select the features you want to display.
- Manage the features and amenities from the listing features settings.

Listing custom fields
To add custom fields to your listings, go to Theme Options → General → Listing Custom Fields.
The custom fields you add can be:
- Text fields
- Numeric fields
- Dropdown fields
To add custom fields to the search form, use the following configuration:
- Dropdown fields – Use Like compare.
- Text fields – Use Like compare.
- Number fields – Use Greater, Smaller, or Equal compare.
- Date fields – Use Date Greater or Date Smaller compare.
Other default fields
Other default fields that can be added to search include:
- Zip – Text input field
- Size – Numeric input field
Geolocation search
Geolocation Search is a specific search feature for map locations, not property address fields.
It allows visitors to search for a specific location on the map and view properties within a selected radius around that location.
This feature is available only in the Half Map layout. It can be used for:
- Advanced Search Results Half Map
- Properties List Half Map
- Taxonomy Half Map pages
Set the map system
First, choose the map system used by the theme.
- Go to WPRentals Theme Options → Map Configuration → Map General Settings.
- Find the option What Map System do you want to use?.
- Select Google Maps or OpenStreetMaps.
If you use Google Maps:
- Generate and add a Google Maps API key.
- Enable Google Places.

If you use OpenStreetMaps:
- Set What Map System do you want to use? to OpenStreet.
- Enable OpenStreet Places.
- Click Save Changes.
Set geolocation search by typing a location
Visitors can type a specific location into the Half Map Location field. Then, they can use the Radius slider to narrow the results to a specific distance around that location.
To enable and configure Geolocation Search for the Half Map layout:
- Go to Theme Options → Search → Geo Location Search.
- Enable or disable the geolocation search option.
- Choose whether the radius is shown in miles or kilometers.
- Set the minimum radius value.
- Set the maximum radius value.
- Set the initial radius value.
Limit Google Places or OpenStreet Places to a country
Optionally, you can limit Google Places or OpenStreet Places suggestions to a specific country.
Go to Theme Options → Search → Location Field Search Settings → Limit Use Google Places or Open Street Places to a specific country.
Set the option to Yes, then select the country.
