This article explains how property reviews work in WPRentals, including how guests can leave reviews, how admins approve or manage reviews, how owners can reply, and how review email notifications work.
How Guests Add a Review
Guests can leave a review after a confirmed booking has ended.
To add a review, the guest must:
- Log in to their account.
- Go to My Reservations in the user dashboard.
- Find the completed booking in the Completed Bookings section.
- Click Rate Property next to the completed reservation.
- Select a star rating from 1 to 5 stars.
- Add the review text with feedback about the property, amenities, and overall experience.
- Click Submit Review.
Review Approval Settings
The site admin can decide if reviews are published automatically or if they require manual approval.
This option is managed from Theme Options.
If “Should admin approve the reviews?” is set to NO
- The review is published automatically after the guest submits it.
- The review becomes visible on the property page.
- If the review does not show instantly, refresh the property page.
If “Should admin approve the reviews?” is set to YES
The review is saved with Pending status and must be approved by the admin before it appears on the property page.
The admin can manage pending reviews from:
Listings, Bookings & More > Reviews
To approve a review, the admin edits the review and clicks Publish.
How Reviews Show on the Property Page
Reviews left by guests are displayed on the property page.
Future visitors can see the guest review, rating, and any owner reply if the owner has responded.
How Owners Reply to Reviews
Owners can reply to reviews received for their properties from the front-end dashboard.
To reply to a review, the owner must:
- Log in to the Owner Dashboard.
- Go to My Reviews.
- Find the review they want to answer.
- Click the Reply button.
- Write the reply to the guest review.
- Submit the reply.
The owner reply will be shown together with the guest review on the property page.
Owners can send one reply to each review from My Reviews. Reviews can be edited by the admin only.
If admin approval is enabled, the owner reply must also be manually approved before it is displayed on the front end.
My Reviews Dashboard Page
Owners can see all received reviews in the My Reviews dashboard page.
If this page is missing from the dashboard, create it manually from:
Wp-admin > Pages > Add New
Then select the page template:

Save and publish the page.
How Admins Manage Reviews
Admins can see, edit, approve, publish, or delete reviews from:
Listings, Bookings & More > Reviews
This area is used to manage guest reviews and owner replies, especially when manual approval is enabled.
How Admins Add a Review Manually
The admin can also add a new review manually from the Reviews section.
To add a review manually:
- Go to Listings, Bookings & More > Reviews.
- Click Add Review.
- Add the review title.
- Add the review content.
- In Review Options, select the review author from the registered users list.
- Select the property where the review should appear.
- Set the number of stars.
- Click Publish.
After the review is saved and published, the selected author and property cannot be changed from the edit screen.
The new review will show on the property where it was attached.
Review Email Notifications
The admin receives an email each time a new review is posted.
The guest can also receive a reminder email after the booking has been completed, asking them to leave a review.
The review reminder email can be edited from Email Management. Help Email Management section
There is also an email notification for the owner when a new review is added, and an email notification for the guest when the owner replies to a review.
