⚠ Important: Disable LiteSpeed Cache Before Demo Import

❗ Why This Matters

If your hosting provider (such as Hostinger) automatically installs the LiteSpeed Cache plugin, it is critical to disable all caching features before importing the demo or working on your site. Failure to do so can lead to:

  • Missing images or content

  • Incomplete demo import

  • Broken functionality

  • Page builder or widgets not loading

  • ❌ JavaScript errors that block front-end login/register forms and other essential JS actions

Before Installing the Theme or Demo Content

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard

  • Go to LiteSpeed Cache > Settings

  • In each tab:

    • General

    • Cache

    • Page Optimization

    • And any other tab with optimization settings

    👉 Turn OFF all settings

  • Click Save Changes in every tab

After Installation (If You Already Installed the Theme with LiteSpeed Active)

If you already installed the theme or demo content with LiteSpeed Cache turned on, follow these steps to fix it:

Do a full site reset

Here is a helpful video tutorial https://help.wpresidence.net/article/demo-import-video-tutorials/#clear_wpestate_id

Turn Off LiteSpeed Cache Settings

  • Go to LiteSpeed Cache > Settings

  • Turn OFF all options in:

    • General

    • Cache

    • Page Optimization

    • Any other active optimization tab

  • Save after each tab

Purge All Caches

  • In LiteSpeed Cache > Dashboard or Toolbar. Click “Purge All” or “Clear Cache”

Clear Browser Cache

  • Open your site in an incognito window or

  • Clear your browser cache to make sure you’re seeing the updated version

Start again with license activation and demo import

Help https://help.wpresidence.net/article/where-is-my-purchase-code/

Recommended

Caching is not required during development. So Deactivate the LiteSpeed Cache plugin entirely before site is live

This prevents:

  • Conflicts with JS-based features

  • Errors in front-end login and register forms

  • Stuck widgets or page builders

Especially avoid JavaScript optimizations (minify, combine, defer, etc.) until the site is finalized — they are known to cause JavaScript errors that block interactive site features.

Enable JS when the site is live and test thoroughly in Incognito Browser mode to be sure there are no errors generated by the 3rd party cache plugin.

Error When Saving Theme Options:

Error Message:
“There was a problem with your action. Please try again or reload the page.”

How to Resolve This Issue

If you encounter this error while saving Theme Options, please check the following:

Test with a Clean Theme and Default Demo Options

  • Switch to the default theme version without any customizations or extra demo options loaded.
  • If the error persists, it may be caused by server security settings.

Check Server Security Settings (ModSecurity)

  • This issue is often related to your server’s security module (ModSecurity) blocking admin-ajax requests.
  • Contact your hosting provider and ask them to review the ModSecurity rules for admin-ajax.php and ensure that the server permits writing operations triggered by this script.

Review Custom CSS

  • If you recently added custom CSS before the error appeared, temporarily remove it.
  • Invalid or malformed CSS can prevent saving Theme Options.
  • After removing the custom CSS, try saving again.

The Core Plugin Functionality plugin manages the theme’s custom post types.

After installing and activating it, you may encounter 404 – Not Found errors on Properties pages, Archives, or Category pages.

The same can happen when you change the Permalinks Names from Theme Options.

If you see a Page Not Found error for Properties or Categories, you need to flush and save your permalink settings to apply the new plugin’s rewrite rules correctly. This is a one-time step after plugin activation.

How to fix it:

  1. Go to Admin Dashboard > Appearance > Permalinks

  2. Select the Custom Structure option (or keep your current permalink structure)

  3. Click Save Changes

This action refreshes the permalink rules and should resolve the 404 errors.

HTTPS (Secure HTTP) is an encryption protocol that secures the connection between your users’ browsers and your server. This encryption makes it much harder for hackers to intercept or eavesdrop on data transmitted between them.

How to Enable HTTPS in WordPress Settings

If you are starting a new site or want to use HTTPS across your entire site, and your hosting has added an SSL certificate, you need to update your site URL settings:

  1. Go to Settings > General in your WordPress dashboard

  2. Update both the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) fields to use https:// instead of http://

How to Set Up an SSL Certificate for Your Website

Many hosts offer free SSL certificates via Let’s Encrypt. Contact your hosting for assistance.

If unsure, contact your hosting support to ask about enabling SSL or installing an SSL certificate.

System Requirements

To use WP Rentals, ensure your setup meets the following requirements:
✅ WordPress: Version 6.0 or higher
✅ PHP: Version 8.0 or higher (affects site speed)

Enable Wp Rentals Cache

WP Rentals includes a built-in caching system that optimizes key elements like property listings and widgets.

Why Use It?

✅ Reduces database requests
✅ Improves page load speed
✅ Automatically refreshes every 4 hours

💡 Important: Do not disable this cache when your site is LIVE and in productions, as no other caching plugin can fully replace its functionality.

Ensure Your Images Are Set Up Properly

Missing Images?

✔ If you DO NOT use Price Pins, make sure you add property pins to Google Maps to prevent increased API requests.
🔗 Help guide: Pins Management

Enable “Read from File” for Pins

  • Recommended if you have 200+ properties to improve speed.
  • Works manually via the “Generate Pins” button or automatically via cron (every 24 hours).
🔗 Help guide: Read from File Settings

Limit the Number of Pins where Read From File does not apply

  • Set a maximum number of pins on the map to match your hosting capabilities (applies to property lists and searches).

3. Optimize Server & Hosting Settings

Enable Gzip Compression

Use a Hosting Provider with Built-In Caching

  • Look for Memcached, Redis, or a similar caching system.
  • Alternatively, use Cloudflare (free CDN) for caching.

Avoid Cheap Shared Hosting

💡 A very cheap shared hosting plan is not ideal.
❌ Shared hosting means your site competes for resources with hundreds of others.
🔐 Security risk: If one site is hacked, all sites on the server are vulnerable.
✅ Recommended: Get VPS or managed hosting ($20–$30/month) for better speed and security.

4. Remove Unnecessary Plugins

  • Test speed with only theme-required plugins (Visual Composer, Ultimate Addons, Rev Slider).
  • Delete unused plugins to reduce extra delays.

5. Optimize Images

Use plugins like:
✔ Smush It
✔TinyPNG
💡 Large images slow down loading times—optimize them for best performance.

Keep Everything Updated

🔄 Always update to the latest WP Rentals version and WordPress version for:
✅ New features
✅ Performance improvements
✅ Security patches

Error Message: “Are you sure you want to do this?”

This message appears because your maximum upload size limit is less than the size of the theme file you are trying to upload.

For example, if your upload limit is set to 2MB and your theme’s zip file is 10MB, the upload will fail.

Increase Upload Limit via Hosting (php.ini)

  1. Locate the php.ini file inside the wp-admin directory (if you can’t find this file ask hosting for support)
  2. Find this line in the php.ini file “upload_max_filesize = 2M” and replace it with a higher value (e.g. “upload_max_filesize = 64M”)
  3. You may also want to increase your max post size. Look for this line in your php.ini file “post_max_size” and increase it as well.
  4. Save the changes to the file inside your wp-admin directory.
  5. Try the upload again
  6. If you still have issues, look for this file in your root directory and make the same changes.

Install the Theme/Plugin via FTP

If you can’t increase the upload limit or prefer a different method:

Issue
You may encounter this error message in the ajax_functions.php file or similar when the PHP function checkdnsrr() is called but not found:

Call to undefined function checkdnsrr()

This error occurs because the PHP DNS functions extension (which includes checkdnsrr() ) is  missing or disabled on your server.

Why This Matters

The checkdnsrr() function is commonly used to verify email addresses by checking DNS records. It helps prevent the registration of invalid or suspicious email addresses.

Recommended Solution

Enable the PHP DNS extension on your server.

For Linux servers, this usually means installing or enabling the php-dns or php-common package.

On Windows, ensure your PHP build includes this extension.

Contact your hosting provider if you do not have direct control over PHP modules.

If you encounter an HTTP Error (Error-200) during media file uploads or the message “Failed to write file to disk”, these indicate server configuration or permission issues that need to be addressed.

Resolving HTTP Error (Error-200)

This error is related to server execution limits when uploading files in WordPress.

Solution:

  • Open wp-config.php in your sites main directory via FTP (or cPanel)
  • Scroll to the line which reads/* That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */
  • Add the codeset_time_limit(60);above the line/* That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */text
  • Set the set_time_limit(300);

Important Notes:

Some hosting providers may restrict changing the execution time via wp-config.php.

In such cases, consult your hosting provider for adjustments.

For best results, also review your hosting configuration and consider increasing related PHP settings (if possible), such as:

  • max_execution_time
  • upload_max_filesize
  • post_max_size

Some hosting companies may not allow you to overwrite this setting from wp-config. However, you can still try.

Reference:

For additional details on increasing limits:
https://wordpress.mcdspot.com/2012/03/20/ways-to-increase-max-file-upload-size-and-execution-time/

Resolving “Failed to Write File to Disk”

This error occurs when WordPress is unable to write uploaded files to the server, often due to incorrect folder permissions or insufficient server disk space.

Solution:

Check Upload Folder Permissions

  • Access your site via FTP or cPanel.
  • Navigate to the wp-content/uploads directory.
  • Ensure the folder has correct permissions: Recommended: 755
  • If needed for troubleshooting: 777 (use with caution and revert to 755 once the issue is resolved)

Reference:
https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/changing-file-permissions/

Check Disk Space

  • Verify with your hosting provider that your hosting account has sufficient disk space.
  • If disk usage is near or at capacity, you may need to upgrade your hosting plan.

What is the White Screen of Death?

The White Screen of Death (WSOD) in WordPress is a frustrating issue where your site displays only a blank white screen, with no content or error messages. This problem prevents access to both your front-end and sometimes the admin dashboard.

Why Does It Happen?

The most common causes of WSOD include:

  • PHP memory exhaustion.

  • Errors in plugins or themes.

  • Incorrect file permissions.

  • Server configuration limitations.

Increase PHP Memory Limit

A low PHP memory limit often causes the WSOD. To increase it:

  • Open your site’s root directory using FTP or your hosting’s File Manager.

  • Locate the wp-config.php file.

  • Add this line above the line that says /* That’s all, stop editing! Happy publishing. */:
define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M');

This increases the PHP memory limit to 256MB, which usually resolves memory issues.

For more help: https://wordpress.org/support/article/editing-wp-config-php/#increasing-memory-allocated-to-php

Disable All Plugins

If a plugin is causing the issue:

If you can access WordPress admin:

  • Go to Plugins and deactivate all plugins.
  • Reactivate them one by one to find the problematic one.

If you cannot access WordPress admin:

  • Use FTP or File Manager, navigate to wp-content, and rename the plugins folder to plugins-deactivated.
  • This disables all plugins.
  • Reload your site.
  • If it works, one of the plugins was the issue.
  • Rename the folder back to plugins and reactivate plugins one at a time.

Enable Debugging to Reveal Errors

Debugging can show you the exact error causing the WSOD. To enable it:

  • Open wp-config.php.
  • Add or update these lines:
define('WP_DEBUG', true);
define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', true);
define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', true);

Reload the site and check for error messages.

For more help: http://codex.wordpress.org/WP_DEBUG

Check File Permissions
Make sure that:

  • Folders are set to permission 755.

  • Files are set to permission 644.

What the Warning Looks Like

You may see a warning message like this:

Warning: set_time_limit(): Cannot set max execution time limit due to system policy in /customers/5/5/9/site.com/httpd.www/wp-content/themes/……

Warning: set_time_limit() has been disabled for security reasons in /path/to/file.php on line X

This warning indicates that the PHP function set_time_limit() is disabled on your server.

This function allows scripts to increase the maximum execution time for PHP processes, but some hosts disable it for security reasons.

Why This Happens

  • Some shared hosting providers disable set_time_limit() to prevent abuse or excessive server load.
  • WordPress themes or plugins might try to use set_time_limit() to handle long-running processes (like imports or large uploads).

How to Fix It

Hosting must provide the solution based on this url instructions http://php.net/manual/en/function.set-time-limit.php

If hosting cannot raise that limit, one option is to change hosting.

In the theme – you can try to comment line 7 in user-dashboard-add.php and test submission.

What the Error Looks Like

You might see an error message like this:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2348617 bytes) in /home/username/public_html/site1/wp-includes/plugin.php on line xyz

Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 18612224 ) (tried to allocate 491520 bytes) in/home/username/public_html/site/wp-includes/canonical.php on line 257

This means that WordPress has hit the maximum amount of memory allocated by your server for PHP scripts.

Why This Happens

WordPress and its themes/plugins require a certain amount of PHP memory to function. If a script needs more memory than allowed by your server configuration, you’ll see a Fatal Memory Error.

How to Fix It

Increase PHP Memory Limit in wp-config.php

  • Open your site’s root folder using FTP or File Manager.
  • Locate the wp-config.php file.
  • Add this line above the line that says /* That’s all, stop editing! Happy publishing. */
define( 'WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M' );

This increases the PHP memory limit to 256MB, which is usually enough.

Help: https://wordpress.org/support/article/editing-wp-config-php/#increasing-memory-allocated-to-php

Increase Memory Limit via php.ini

If the wp-config.php change doesn’t work, you can increase memory in php.ini:

Locate your php.ini file (ask your hosting provider if unsure).

Add or update this line:

memory_limit = 256M

Save the file and restart the server (if necessary).

A common issue when installing WordPress themes is receiving the error message:
“The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.”

Missing style.css stylesheet

This usually happens if you upload the wrong file. When downloading your theme, you generally have two options:

  1. Installable WordPress Theme file only (usually a single zip file, e.g., wprentals.zip).
